Every month, we take a look back on what we have done over the past 30ish days. However, now that it's the end of the year, we thought it would be fun to take some time to do a review of the whole year.
So what was GiveSmart up to in 2017?
In terms of work, 2017 was a record year for us here at GiveSmart. We helped nonprofits like yours raise millions of dollars - and we helped more organizations than ever. We grew like never before!

The New People
Of course, we wouldn't have been able to do all these great things if it wasn't because of the team we have here working hard every day. In 2017, we got to add to that team with several new employees. This year, Jess, Maurica, Sarah, and Claire all joined GiveSmart, making us even stronger.
And we are still hiring for 2018, so make sure you check out the job posts if you know someone who might want to be a part of GiveSmart in the new year.
The New Office
It seems like we've been there for a long time, but we actually did get a new office this year, and it's nice! Right beside SunTrust Park, we've got ping pong and a snack kitchen. Plus, it's open, so we all get to see each other every day.
The New Features
We also got a lot of new features this year. For example:
- Item packaging
- Donor emails from your GiveSmart Dashboard
- Donor ability to see live auction items on their smartphone
- The GiveSmart Newsletter
- New uniforms
Every new feature we add is designed to make life easier for you. And many of them were added because people like you requested them. We are here to listen! So if you have anything you'd like to see in the upcoming year, make sure you contact us and let us know what you'd like.
In 2017, we held our first ever photo contest, and people sent in some amazing pictures! We have great things planned for those pictures, so get ready to see the results soon!
However, in the meantime, congrats again to our winner: SPCA of Texas.
We won another award! We were honored to receive the Best Use of Technology for Interaction and Participation award at the annual Event Technology awards, hosted in London.
The New Owners
In addition to everything else going on, we also added a whole lot to our family as we became part of the Community Brands team.
Of course, we weren't all work this year. One of the best things about GiveSmart is the family atmosphere. We hang out together outside of the office, and we have a lot of fun in the office too. Here are some things we did this year:
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo:
And we had a salsa making competition while we were at it:
We went to a Braves game:
We had a cook-out (and, because as you can see we are competitive, we also had a bbq sauce contest - and I won!):
We had a Daddies and Diapers shower because, it felt like, every man in the office had a baby due at once:
We dressed up for Halloween (and had a chili-off, of course):
We had a Thanksgiving potluck...and a pie contest...
We had a Christmas party and wore our ugly sweaters:
Of course, not everything that happened this year was good. We also had to say goodbye to Joel, who we lost over the summer.
However, we tried to do some good with this loss, and so we raised money for his favorite charity: the Boy Scouts.
So that's what we've been doing this year. How about you?
Have a happy New Year and make 2018 one you'll never forget (in the best way)!
